If you've installed joomla and civiCRM on one server (localhost) and you are migrating it to another server (live site) it is not a simple process and not just a matter of resetting a few files.  See
http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Moving+an+Existing+Installation+to+a+New+Server+or+Location
It took me four days to migrate my site - one day struggling with getting the files off my old host, another with Joomla issues and two more with civiCRM.  (If I'd made no mistakes at all it would have been a one day process, but . . . )

It would be easier to make a fresh install of Joomcivi on your web server and develop on that.
Thanks to those who help create and enhance civiCRM!

Re: JoomCivi Released

I found what seems to be a slight problem, and I'm not sure how to fix it.
I installed joomcivi in the root directory of the webserver so that my site's URL is http://mysite.com instead of http://mysite.com/joomcivi.

Everything works great except the menu bar in the CiviCRM backend.  ( Home / Search... / Contacts / Contributions / Events / Mailings / Memberships / Reports / Administer / Help).

Any links from this menu or the dropdowns include joomcivi in the URL which breaks the link.  So instead of http://mysite.com/administrator/index2.php?... it links to http://mysite.com/joomcivi/administrator/index2.php?...

I triple-checked the URLs in both config.settings.php files but those are correct (do not contain /joomcivi).  Where are the links from this toolbar coded?

The simple workaround is to manually remove the joomcivi from the URL, and everything works as it should.  But that gets a little tedious...

Thanks!!

Jason

Create a folder called joomcivi using your FTP program.  Then in your FTP program select all files in your root, leaving out the new joomcivi folder and leaving out anything else not part of joomcivi that was in there before.  Drag the whole lot into the joomcivi folder.

That might work just fine or there might be settings files that need to be changed using your FTP program and notepad to reflect the new path.  If it works, great.  If not, look first at the joomla settings file, configuration.php.  For civiCRM configuration, it's much more complicated, so hopefully you won't need to change them.  If you do, it's probably easier to delete everything and reinstall than to go through and make the changes.

Thanks to those who help create and enhance civiCRM!

Thanks Chris, but the problem with your solution is that then the URL of my site includes /joomcivi in it, and I don't want /joomcivi in the URL.
I need to find the CiviCRM setting file that controls the URL of the links in the backend menu bar.

Jason, I am assuming that you can browse your joomla site without /joomcivi in it and only the URLs in the administrator CiviCRM are the problem. Do the following:

1. Login to the administrator end and to go this URL
http://<joomla_site>/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/admin/setting/updateConfigBackend&reset=1

Review the directory paths.

2. Go to this URL to rebuild the Administrator Menu
 http://<joomla_site>/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/menu/rebuild&reset=1

Don't forget to replace <joomla_site> with your own domain name.

Hope it helps.

That worked!  Thanks!

The URLs in the first step were completely correct.  I remember rebuilding the menus before but doing it again seems to have worked!

Thanks again!

Hi Freshnz, Yes you can.

In fact, JoomCivi started because of the troubles we were facing setting up CiviCRM on GoDaddy hosting.

Hope it helps!!

I tried to install Joomcivi to my webserver, It looks like that Joomla works well.

However, when I went to the last step of the installation, i.e. when I typed the following command to my web browser:

http://"mysite"/joomcivi/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/admin/setting/updateConfigBackend&reset=1

Then I ghad the following message:

Warning: require_once(CRM/Core/Config.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/f/r/e/mysite/html/joomcivi/administrator/components/com_civicrm/admin.civicrm.php on line 17

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'CRM/Core/Config.php' (include_path='.:/var/www/joomcivi/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm:/var/www/joomcivi/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/packages:.:/usr/local/php5/lib/php') in /home/content/f/r/e/mysite/html/joomcivi/administrator/components/com_civicrm/admin.civicrm.php on line 17

Could you please guide me how to solve this problem? Many thanks.

Hey Kuma,

Have you changed the civicrm.settings.php in administrator/components/com_civicrm and in /components/com_civicrm??
