Bulk Update Participants with Tags?
May 18, 2009, 09:37:50 am
Is there a way to bulk tag participants from an event? I wanted to create a profile to use for the batch update via profile option, but I noticed that if I choose to use 'participants' for my profile type, tag(s) is not an option (I would have to select 'Contact' for my profile type). Is it true that I can't do this, or am I just missing something?

If it's not possible, seems like it's something others would also want...is there any issue that's been reported similar to this? and how hard would it be to expose the tags option in the 'more actions' dropdown on participant listings?

hi emilyf,
i have a feeling i have misunderstood what you are asking but i'll respond anyway.
my understanding is that you want a way to bulk tag event participants. if you use the advanced sarch feature and scroll down to the events section, that will allow you to select participants based on event or role etc... once you have found that group, you can tag them by selecting "tag contacts" from the more actions dropdown menu.
is this what you are wanting to do or is there a need to use a profile in some way?

thanks ctarascio
'My people' want to do this from the participant listing of an event at civicrm/event/admin rather than the advanced search...odd request i realize. so i'm wondering if the options will be added to the more actions bar on participant listings anytime in near future.

i recall there being some kind of difficulty in exposing more options related to contacts in the 'more actions' dropdown on participant listings...but now that all this is working in advanced search, is it still as troublesome?

hey emily:

We'll standardize and expose more actions on all the component search forms in a future 2.x / 3.x release. However it will not be part of 2.3, which is already a wee bit too full :(
