CiviCRM didn't install properly, and I can't change the settings.
May 18, 2009, 01:17:00 pm
hi there,

I have two prroblems.

First, I followed the instructions on this page:http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Drupal+Installation+Guide to install CiviCRm on my Drupal install. However, after the 5th step, I got a screen that congratulated me that my standalone install is complete. That didn't seem normal. I deleted the settings file and reinstalled. Now I am looking at the install page and I see this error message:

Oops! Please Correct Your Install Location

Please untar (uncompress) your downloaded copy of CiviCRM in the sites\all\modules directory below your Drupal root directory.

Funny thing is the location it's referring to does have a copy of CiviCrm.

EDIT: I used a prior forum thread and replaced DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR by '/' to fix this problem.

Second problem is this....I disregarded these error messages, enabled all the CiviCRM modules I could find in my modules page, and then gave permissions to myself for all the new roles created. The step 6 says to go to the CiviCRM in the administration page and find "Administer CiviCRM." The only thing is...there is no "Administer CiviCRM" under the CiviCRM section in the administration menu.  What is there is a link called "Personal Campaign Pages" and when I click that I get a second error like this:

Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.

You do not have permission to access this page

What permission? I gave all the permissions to my admin user already.

So, do you have any recommendations for me? What did I do wrong? I performed the installation several times by now, and I always get the same result....please help.

thanks!

For reference, I  am using a Drupal Acquia stack on a Windows machine.

What all messages you fixed ? Did you get any successful installation message which would take you to configuration checklist (or site) ?

enabled all the CiviCRM modules I could find in my modules page
Without successful message enabling the module would not help. In worst case you could do a manual install. Try searching forum if you would want to go that way.

Or someone else with installation experience on windows could jump in to give you further directions.

I don't remember, but when I go to the installation page now I get a message saying CiviCRM is already installed.
