Grey out or highlight tabs containing no data
May 19, 2009, 10:51:14 am
One of my customers has asked for the following:
"... if you have an individual or household entry open, there are a number of tabs at the top. Is it possible to have the tab highlight if there is content on that tab?"

This would be a "nice to have" feature and could be done either by highlighting the tabs with content behind them, or greying out those with no content behind them.

I ran a search in the forums but didn't find anything relevant to this. Anyone know if this is being considered at all?

Cheers,
Marty

Marty,

Take a look at new contact view mockup and let us know if solution proposed there matches your needs.

Thx,

I take it you mean here: http://sandbox.civicrm.org/sites/sandbox.civicrm.org/modules/civicrm/mockups/contact/contactView1.html

If so, then yes, I think this will work just fine. One thing (nice to have).... what about custom data groups? For example, I have a "tab" display style custom data group defined that extends the property information. Is it possible to have it grayed out if there's no data in the custom group fields? Or highlighted if there is? The count is not really applicable as there's either data there or not, but it would be nice for the user to know if they should even bother checking that tab for data. Make sense?

Cheers and GREAT work!
Marty.

Hey I like that having the numbers on the tabs. The black horizontal lines look a bit heavy to my eye but looking good.

If it comes to grayed out custom data tabs - cannot tell at this stage. We'll keep this in mind when we get to implementation - however, if it's resource intensive or especially complicated (which I don't think it is), we might want to postpone this feature until one of later versions.

Thx,
