I previously had trouble with Force SSL under Civi: http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,6888.msg30339.html#msg30339

Well now I seem to be getting an error if the redirection to ssl in necessary.  If I forget to set the Joomla menu item to ssl on, I get an "HTTPS is not set up on this machine error"  Clearly https links work on my server: https://www.trinityhamburg.org/index.php?option=com_civicrm&view=Events&layout=register&Itemid=165

I can work around it but it makes things more complicated.  Any ideas?

Thanks.  I'll check it again after a 2.2.3 upgrade
