Individual email linked to household

Hi,

I have contacts with no individual email address who are members of a household that does have an email address.  The individual address has the "use household address" option enabled, but when I search for contacts and use the "send email to contacts" option on the search results, I get an error message that there is no valid email address for the contact - which is partly true because there is no email address on the individual record.

Have I missed something, or is there a workaround?

IMO workaround would be to send emails to Households.

Thanks, yes - I didn't give the full picture.  Most of the individuals have household email addresses, but some have individual addresses, so I was wondering if there was a way of using the household address as a default if there is no individual address?

Nope. Currently you cannot do that using CiviCRM.
