£ sign shows up as £

Anyone know why £ shows up on my installation as £?

I am on 2.2.3 but can't replicate on Sandbox.  it was happening in an older version as well so clearly my fault, but if you have any ideas why, I'd be grateful.

Can you check your civicrm_currency table if it has correct values ?
