Importing several relationships in one go - bug or inappropriate usage
May 27, 2009, 04:46:40 am
Hi - have an import to do - with individuals who are an 'employee' of one organisation and also 'representatives' of one or more other organisations.

First option was to import with duplicate rows for the individual and set to update, so it hits a line where it imports the 'employee' then it hits a line with the 'reprentative for' - was suprised to get this "Mismatched contact IDs OR Mismatched contact Types :" esp as there were neither Contact IDs involved, and my contact was definitely and Individual

Second I thought I would try with a single row , and have multiple columns for the Represtative option, so the Import would look like this

Col 5 "Employee of" "Organisation A name"
Col 6 "Rep of" "Org B name"
Col 7 "Rep of" "Org C name"

Since a person can have multiple relationships, I expected this to make the 'Rep of' for both - but it only made one. is this expected?

Thanks

I suspect the code does not handle multiple relationships of the same type. This can be classified as a bug or missing feature

I would follow the second option and do multiple imports one for each representative in the file

Thanks Lobo - multiple imports was always the fall back - but nice to know it is probably THE option. though nice to know that in trying it was happy with multiple relationships of different types. cheers
