action.optOutUrl link shows a "Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred."

I've included the "action.optOutUrl" in CiviMail newsletter for users to unsubsribe, but it doesn't work. It generates this URL (server address changed):

http://www.server.com/index.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/mailing/optout&reset=1&jid=68&qid=35951&h=0e71b724660fefa0

Which if clicked upon shows this error:

Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.
There was an error in your request
Return to home page.

Any ideas on what might be the cause of this?

does the unsubscribe link work? task=civicrm/mailing/unsubscribe

if you are familiar with mysql, can u check that there is a entry in the civicrm_mailing_event_queue table with id=35951 and job id 68 and hash 0e71b724660fefa0

The unsubscribe link doesn't work. If I open the URL
http://www.server.com/index.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/mailing/unsubscribe

I get the following error:

Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.
Missing input parameters
Return to home page.

I've checked the database and there is an entry in the civicrm_mailing_event_queue table with
ID 68 but the hash is different: e9211f1436fa54bb

in the queue table u need to check the row with id=35951

I've just checked and there is no row with ID 35951. There's 35948 and the next one below it 35958.

Go figure.

seems like there are some db issues on your site.

1. we dont really have any code that deletes records from the event queue tables (delete contact does so, but i'm assuming folks are not deleting a lot of contacts)

2. no row with id 35951 is one indication of some db issues

3.  35948 should be followed by 35949 not 35958, which is another clue

i would highly recommend u hire someone from http://civicrm.org/professional/ to get u back on the right track

I found that this error occurs if clicking on an unsubscribe link in a test email. No record is created in civicrm_mailing_event_queue and the "There was an error in your request" error occurs. I wonder if this explains the OP's issue.
