Standard Procedures
August 04, 2007, 04:54:55 pm
I want to do the following in CiviCRM and would like help figuring out what features of CiviCRM I need and how to set it all up:

1. Track Pledges for a monthly fund raiser by associating a pledge amount with a Contact.
2. Track whether monthly payments where made
3. Send monthly e-mails/updates to those who pledge.
3a. I would like to send one e-mail, yet have it customized with the amount owed.  I don't know how to do this, or if it's possible.  I currently just write an e-mail individually to each person who has pledged with the amount owed.

Here's what I currently have:

- A group for tracking who has pledged.  Every time someone pledges, I add them to a group.
- I can e-mail the whole group if I choose.
- I added a custom field for "Contacts" that has a pledge amount and note section.  Unfortunately, this shows up on everyone's contact info.  I would REALLY like it if it just showed up on those contacts who are in the pledge group (or however you can recommend to track this).

Thanks for any ideas.

Keith:

(this is more a tangential point, rather than an answer to your post)

You might want to read and comment on:

I suspect CiviPledge can and should handle the below quite seamlessly. This has come up on the forums / mailing list often and seems much needed. Would be great for a one or more organizations who need to functionality to step up and actually help develop this functionality in CiviCRM. Personally i feel it would be a better approach and more productive rather than trying to figure out how to achieve it with current functionality
