Installing from SVN - some updates...
May 30, 2009, 05:28:36 am
Hi,

I've been following the install from SVN instructions.  http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Installing+CiviCRM+from+subversion+%28SVN%29+repository

Have made some updates that I thought it was bringing your attention to seeings as this is only my second time doing an SVN install.  I haven't written all of them here (but you can do a diff on the wiki page).

I still have some unanswered questions.

Can you explain the significance of these lines a bit more?  Are they still necessary?

If using Drupal, be sure to set define( 'CIVICRM_UF_FRONTEND', 0 )
'Note that the tpl file is a template markup file."

Also at the end of the file it used to say now follow manual install instructions.  They were a bit out of date and HUGE! so I decided to remove the reference and just add the final steps on this page as there are only a couple!

I still referenced the manual install process but assume that it is a bit defunct now.

Also, if someone wants to help me out by adding the correct file to reference for importing sample data here that would be good.  I'm not sure because there is generated and sample, but generated doesn't seem to get updated by GenCode.php.

1. CIVICRM_UF_FRONTEND was never used for drupal but is still needed for Joomla. In general it is safe to initialize it and have it set to 0

2. incorporating the manual process into that page is a good thing :)

3. if you dont want any sample data, u need to load: civicrm.mysql and civicrm_data.mysql

4. if you want the sample data, u need to load: civicrm.mysql and civicrm_generated.mysql
