Custom Data Fields for profiles
June 01, 2009, 11:39:49 am
Hello, I have created a small number of custom data fields using radial buttons. Is it possible to have these custom data fields included in the registration process? I have seen where custom profile fields can be created for registration, but I have been unable to inlcude the custom data fields in this process. Is there a way to do this? Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated.

First you need to create profile, then add custom data to profile and then include profile in User Registration. For more information do check: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Profiles+Admin

Thanks for taking the time to look that up for me Kurund. But it appears I did not ask my question correctly. What I need to be able to do is have the Custom Data Groups assigned to user registration. In other words I need like for them to be part of the registration process when a user signs up for the site.  Is this possible? Thanks again for any assistance or advice provided.

Kurund's response is correct. Profiles are the way to expose fields (whether core or custom) during the user registration process.

I would recommend you read the profiles chapter of the CiviCRM book: http://en.flossmanuals.net/CiviCRM/CapturingExposing The instructions for your use case are about half way down the page.

I'm seeing a similar issue to what ProID sees.

Basically, I have created custom data groups and have added them to the appropriate profiles, but when I make those profiles a part of the Drupal user registration process, I am not seeing them on the registration or edit forms.

Any ideas?

Ah... solved. It appears it was a roles and permissions issue. Both anonymous and authenticated needed permissions to "access all custom data".

Cheers,

Josh
