smart groups still not updating on 2.3

Hello,

This might be related to http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,7860.0.html

I'm running 2.2.3 with no custom code.  It is a recent upgrade from a site that was originally 2.1.4.  The site went through an myisam incarnation but is now back to innodb).  I *thought* is was all repaired an behaving nicely, but I could be misisng something.

When I make a smart group (I've made on based on custom fields and the other based on a postcode) it doesn't automatically update to include new contacts that match the criteria.

I've tried to replicate on trunk but it works nicely there so I presume its a local issue.  Any ideas on how I can fix this?

I originally posted about this bug. It is on the 'fixed' list for 2.2.3, however, I just tried on 2.2.5 drupal install and it isn't removing a contact from the smart group when their criteria changes.

Anyone have luck with smart groups working in 2.2.3 or later?

I just logged back into the 2.2.5 drupal and now the smart group is updated correctly? Hmmm. Is there some time frame that smart groups 'refresh' versus automatically?

so basically we seem to be hitting the problem of cache staleness :( we've been quite conservative and reset the cache on all the changes that we know about. but we might have missed a few :(

so if u can give us exact sequence of steps to reproduce the error, preferably on demo, we can track it down and fix it

Hi,

For me, the problem is that I tried to recreate this on the demo but couldn't - it worked fine each time (see the 'for smart group custom data fields').  But each time I re-create it on my local machine (even when creating completely new smart groups based on different criteria) it doesn't update properly.

The steps are pretty straight forward.  Create smart group based on select box value.  Change value of one persons select value so that they would either be added to or removed from the smart group. Check that this is the case by carrying out the equivalent advanced search.  Run the smart group but it isn't updated.  I also carried out the equiviant for a smart group based on the UK postcodes matching "N4%" with no joy.

I have a feeling something else isn't quite right because one of my smart groups has stopped working and just produces a blank screen on this URL http://test.vawcvs.org/civicrm/group/search?reset=1&force=1&context=smog&gid=74 with no debuging messages available. - thought that could be a red herring.

Appreciate that you can't debug X different set ups but any advice you can give me on how to proceed would be much appreciated  :)

Do you still need to confirm via the Demo, or did you ssh into the other site to confirm?
