Localization not working
June 04, 2009, 12:25:55 am
First of all, hi to you all and thanks for CiviCRM! It has made my world a lot easier!

Second (and the reason why I'm posting here  :)):
I've integrated CiviCRM with Joomla and now I'm making extensive use of CiviEvent. I have searched the forum from top to bottom, but I did not find any valid solution for this. I have downloaded the .mo file from sourceforge and installed it in the appropriate directory administrator\components\com_civicrm\civicrm - l10n\LC_MESSAGES\ and made the appropriate changes to the Global Settings\Localization and adapted this to Nederlands (Dutch).

So far so good: All settings have been corrected to have my installation of CiviCRM translated into Dutch. Although, when testdriving online registrations in CiviEvent these settings do not seem to have any effect. Not when testdriving (frontend) or when using the backend.

Does anybody have a suggestions or solution as to what I may have done wrong?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Note that in CiviCRM 2.2 we dropped the LC_MESSAGES part of the path.

If you have l10n/LC_MESSAGES/nl_NL, Try moving the nl_NL directory up one step (so you end up with a l10n/nl_NL/civicrm.mo file).

Sometimes life can be simple, if you know the right roads...  :)

Will this be added to the documentation soon, because it's not the case at the moment I think? - quite confusing, no?

Many thanks for the solution provided!

Ah, right, apologies. I fixed http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/CiviCRM+Localisation – if you find it anywhere else, please consider fixing it on the spot (our wiki documentation is publicly editable). :)
