CiviReport Sandbox
June 05, 2009, 07:56:11 am
Hi,

Where is the CiviReport Sandbox.  I can't find it anywhere anymore!

I tried the

http://sandbox.civicrm.org/civicrm/report/contribute/summary?reset=1&force=1
http://sandbox.civicrm.org/civicrm/report/contribute/detail?reset=1&force=1

links that are mentioned in this blog post but they didn't go anywhere

http://civicrm.org/node/553

I'd really like to demo CiviReport at an event I'm attendin next tuesday so would be great to have access.  I also thought I'd be able to do this with a trunk civicrm download - is that right?

Thanks,
Michael

Hi michael -
CiviReport development is currently happening on a branch of 2.2:

http://svn.civicrm.org/civicrm/branches/v2.2.report/

So if you want to set up your own copy, you'll need to checkout that branch. I think the copy of generated data in that branch includes decent sample contribution data for demo'ing reports.

I'll ping deepak about a public sandbox on our servers as well.

ah - ok - i have trunk checked out.  i can check out out that branch.  Having said that my computer packed up yesterday and I have a conference to go to tomorrow so chances of me being able to do that are close to nill :( and so if there were a way to have a look on sandbox that would be amazing.

got the badges :)

CiviReport sandbox is now available at:
http://reportsandbox.civicrm.org

Usual login:
user = demo
pw = demo

There's definitely still some rough spots - this is pre-alpha still. But I think you can get a decent sense of what's coming :-).

I've created a few report "instances" (by saving specific criteria from one of the Report Templates). You might want to create a few more for your demo. Report "instances" have specific criteria built-in - and in general are what end-users will work with. The report "templates" are what site admins will use to pre-configure reports for their users.

Thanks for the sandbox and introduction to how reports will look dave and deepak.  it was super helpful.  The CiviCRM sessions I ran went pretty well - did 3 x 20 minute sessions with about 10 people each time.  Introduction to what it can do, answering some basic questions, highlighting some of the cool stuff, explaining about the community, and trouble shooting some installations -  some civi people came out of the woodwork and it was cool.

I also learnt that trying to give an introduction to civicrm and then solicit feedback on complex new functionality like civireport from people that have never seen the system is somewhat ambitious for 20 minutes :)

ps. the computer is back up - phew - all backed up and all good.
