help with ownership and permissions
June 06, 2009, 10:05:57 pm
I've just managed (slowly and painfully) to get my local drupal/civicrm install running on production server.
However at some point in desperation I made all folders 777 as well as one file (whose name I have forgotten!!)
I'm thinking all I need is some chowning (which my webhost is happy to do) and then I can recurse everything back to 755.

Please tell me which folder/files need chowning and to what? Is it 99?
cheers
Lesley

1. chowning depends on what user / id the webserver is running as. So its not a universal number (like 99)

the 'files' directory needs to be writable by the webserver. other than that, all the other files need to be readable by the web server and hence dont need 777 permission
