Sync Drupal Webform With CiviCRM data?

I've always liked the webform module in Drupal (http://drupal.org/project/webform). I'm curious if there's a way to make any sign ups relating to a Drupal webform add contacts to my CiviCRM database?

The CiviCRM profile functionality is OK, but its a little clunky and doesn't lend itself to the kind of flexibility of the webform module (petition, survey, questionaire, letter to the editor, etc.), thus my question.

No integration as of yet. Depending on the hooks webform exposes, this might potentially be doable using webform hooks and the civicrm api

a code contribution to enable this would be great. if you are not a developer, consider hiring someone from http://civicrm.org/professional/ to do the needful

Sorry to not follow up on this sooner, Lobo. I've given this some thought and I'd like to perhaps pay a developer to develop this for CiviCRM. I think it's tremendously important and could give CiviCRM a much needed advocacy component. However, I admit I've never done something like this before, and a key question for me is obviously how much we're talking about here. Is there a particular developer that specializes in this kind of thing? Could you do it? Feel free to email me about this - thanks.

Is there maybe some new development on this issue?

We have a webform too that collects contact data within our Drupal installation. Currently we are copying the data manually through the contact/action import into CiviCRM.

I was wondering whether there is a good and easy way how the data can be inserted into CiviCRM automatically?

I wonder if the survey functionality in the proposed GOTV module would be a functional substitute for Webform?
