Greetings-
I have been searching the forums and I haven’t stumbled upon my answer.

Newbie here, working on developing a joomla site. 

I was trying to force community builder to work for my needs, but it was clunky and not quite suited for my purposes.  John Kenyon recommended CIVICRM and it looks to be a good fit.  Here are my needs/ questions:

We are a non-profit community where members/businesses offer a variety of services and classes.  I want each member to update her own profile with contact info/ classes/ services/ etc.

What I want is a searchable web interface where anyone can search for "yoga classes" and get a listing of member profiles/ details of those who offer yoga classes.  I want this search to be open to anyone who visits our site and NOT require log in.  I want anyone visiting our site to be able to search the membership by a variety of ways- by name, by business category, by town, by type of classes, by speciality, etc. 

Will civicrm do this?  Links appreciated as I went through the sample links from the documentation page and didn’t see what I’m looking for.

On the demo site there isn’t (or I couldn’t find) any way to see what the membership looks like from the web as opposed to just seeing it from the admin side.
