Allowing users to specify 'their groups' for civimail purposes
June 08, 2009, 05:57:14 pm
For large and complex organisations, the number of Mailing Groups can become huge in our experience. This causes some stress among users who then feel they have massive lists of Groups to sort through to find the ones they regularly mail to.

One suggestion is to enable a user to put a check against some Groups and thereby make them 'their groups' so that when they go to use civimail (or adv search too maybe) the default is that they only see 'their groups' but that there needs to be an override option to 'display all groups'

Just a thought in case it ties in with other useability improvements ;-)

I'd like to see some sort of categorization mechanism for groups, and allow people to filter by category in the group listing.

That sounds like a good approach as presumably the categorisation could include 'roles/users' as part of the options.
