Hard coded Domains in DB - how do you move CiviCRM to a new domain.

We are having a HORRIBLE problem with CiviCRM. We moved our Joomla install from site1.domain.com to site2.org. site1.domain.com still exists but we do not want to use it. We changed the Resource URLs to site2.org and noticed that on site1.domain.com we could no longer see the tabs in civiMember. When we went to admin site on site2.org some of the links pointed to site1.domain.com. We reset the Resource URL and it seemed ok again on the admin site. But now we are noticing on the front end of our site our events are sending users to site1.domain.com. When we exported our DB we can see a bunch of records in civicrm tables that have http://site1.domain.com hardcoded in them..

How do we move the civicrm from 1 domain to another?

u dont need to be sorry :) there is lots of info on the wiki and unless you know all the right search words, finding them can be a bit challenging at times, so we do understand :)
