PayPal on an OLD CiviCRM Site
June 10, 2009, 05:22:55 am
I have a client with Drupal 5 and CiviCRM 1.6.8517. Yep, 1.6. :)

Until recently they were able to take payments via Paypal but now no matter what I do, it doesn't seem to work. I know that PayPal has changed some of their URLs in the past year. Not sure if that is the issue.

Anyhow, this NPO doesn't want to invest any time/money in upgrading any more than is necessary (and it may be that this site is altogether only going to be operational for another few months) but they need to be able to accept payments.

What is advised? Try to upgrade to later versions and see which one will work?

Or perhaps I could edit the PayPal URL because I think that may be the issue, as in /xclick vs /cgi-bin/xclick or some such.

Thanks.

this diff might be it:

http://fisheye.civicrm.org/browse/CiviCRM/branches/v2.2/CRM/Core/Payment/PayPalImpl.php?r1=20370&r2=21039

you'll have to find the right paypal file for 1.6

I found the file. Oddly enough I tried editing that file from a vanilla copy of 1.6.8517 from SourceForge and it erred. So I edited the online one. I tried a few variations of webscr and xclick and here a "/" there a "?" and eventualy I got it. :)

Thank you.
