How can I create multiple shifts for one event?
June 11, 2009, 03:17:40 pm
I want to create a single event that has multiple volunteer shifts.  People can come from 1pm - 3pm or 3pm - 5pm.  Is there a way to create the two shifts (or more) in one event, or is there only a start and end time, and I have to create different events for each shift?
Thanks.

Do you have a limit of how many people can sign / shift? if so, you should use multiple events (assumign u dont want to code)

if not, you could potentially do this using price sets. but this might confuse your users since price sets are dollar based and have an associated amount

Thanks Lobo.

Sometimes we have a limit on signups and sometimes we do not.  Depends on the event.  Sounds like you're saying there is no way to do this and I have to create a separate event for every shift.

Thanks,

For events w/ 'no limit per shift, you could also experiment with creating and including a required radio button custom field (Used for = Participants) - and people can use that to select a shift.  Possible downside is you'll need to include the start and end times for the entire  event in the event info - and then use text on the screen to clarify things. (You can't currently save an event w/o entering start and end times.)
