Custom Event Data
June 12, 2009, 09:27:47 am
Is there any plan to make it possible to add additional event information data?  I need to be able to add event codes and credit hours approved for an event?  This information needs to be related directly to the event not the individual.  I did see that it is possible to add data specific to the contact/registrant, which won't work.  Ideally, I would like to be able to print off a report or have the individual view their report online of the course that they have taken that includes the date, course name, event code and credit hours. At this time, it seems that the only way I'd be able to do this is by putting the information in the name of the event.  I am sure that this would be problematical due to field length limitations.

I went through the admin guide and played with it a bit to no avail.  Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance.

Custom fields can be created for Events (under Administer CiviCRM >> Custom Data). Select Used For = Event. You can add a group of fields for ALL events, or for a specific event type.

You can see an example on the public demo (link above). After logging in - go to:
http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/admin/event?reset=1&action=update&id=15&subPage=EventInfo

... you'll see a "Credit Hours Approved" field at the bottom.

Caveat: Event custom fields are editable by site administrators and are displayed on the Event Information page.
You'll probably need to write a custom search (or extend one of the new CiviReport reports - starting w/ 2.2.6) to get the output you want. (Or you could query the DB directly).

Thanks!  That is exactly what I was looking for!  Is it in the documentation?  I couldn't find it.

Again, thanks for the quick reply!
