If this has been discussed, please forgive me, I could not find anything in an exhaustive search.

Anyway, we have a non-profit that is helping those that suffered loss of property in the 2003 and 2007 wildfires in San Diego county.

I have built a custom field for "Loss Address" - the address of the home that was destroyed. I would like to make it part of the mapping feature (latitude and longitude) with Google maps.

There doesn't seem to be a field selection for that, and I am wondering if I can make that happen?

Would it not work better to create it as an extra location (ie. core custom data type). I haven't worked through it fully but I'm thinking that the inbuilt locations come with mapping functionality.

There's a little bit on locations here
