Civicrm 2.0 vs 2.2 for Drupal
June 19, 2009, 06:03:16 am
We have a site on 5.x that we are going to use civicrm with, but I've been trying to find out how much we lose by not being able to use 2.x on a Drupal 6.x base.

I've been looking for this info piecemeal and not coming up with much - does anyone with experience know some of the major differences between 2.0 and 2.2?

we do think that for anyone to start using civicrm 2.0 at this stage is a HUGE mistake. There are more than 1000+ bug fixes and improvements between 2.0 and 2.2.x

really?  That sounds ominous :(

We have a number of modules (particularly organic groups related) that don't have a counterpart in Drupal 6.  Are many of the improvements incremental, or are we talking major feature changes that are just *That* much better in 2.2?

I would love to use Drupal 6, but I'm not sure this particular site would be able to migrate.

I guess the biggest hurdle I see is not being able to use the organic groups configuration.  We want committees (quite a few) to be able to post their meeting minutes and discuss them in private areas - does civicrm have any kind of similar functionality for private groups?

no private groups in civicrm. civicrm and OG have pretty different (but complementary) functionality
