Confirmation email sent automatically from one registered user to all others
June 23, 2009, 12:36:58 am
Hi,
I am struggling to know what our admin person has done.
I've checked all global settings etc and all is correct
Since this one person was registered as a participant and ALSO renewed membership all other participants who have registered since are receiving an confirmation email from him, from his own email (which is a completely different organisation SMTP...)
Thanks for your help,
Manuela :)

There was a 2.2.4 release which had this critical bug. We pulled it out pretty quickly and rolled out 2.2.5 which fixed this issue. Can you please upgrade to 2.2.6

thanx

I've upgraded to 2.2.6. but email receipts  are still being sent out automatically by one of the participants.
Any suggestions please?  ??? Its as if this person was an admin, he also appears always as the last person who has used the system, viewed, etc. Could it be related with our administrators computer?
Thank you

Are you saying that new people who register for Event XYZ get an email confirmation where the FROM address is the email of this mystery person? If so, first thing to check is the FROM Email field for this event:

- go to Manage Events >> Configure (this event) >> Online Registration and scroll down to the Confirmation Email section near the bottom of this form.

If the FROM Name and Email Address shown there is the "wrong" one - fix it (problem s/b solved). Also check the CC and BCC boxes.

Otherwise I may not be entirely clear on what you're seeing. Please describe the problem in more detailed steps, including the specific actions taken and the output(s). EXAMPLE:

1. New user comes to event registration form at : http://...your event site
2. They signup for the event
3. They get 1 (or 2?) email confirmations for the event (attach screenshots of the email header or headers)

Thank you Dave,
we have already checked Global Settings, From emails etc on general Civi

On Civievenets have checked the from email which is the one entered in Global Settings, also the cc and bcc which our all our own corporate emails.

What people receive when
1. Registered online from our website
2. Receive confirmation email

is the following:

-----Original Message-----
From: gggggname hhhsurname [mailto:gggg.hhhh@environment-agency.gov.uk]
Sent: 24 June 2009 15:28
To: newlyregistered name
Subject: Contribution Receipt

Thanks for your support.
Please print this receipt for your records.

===========================================================
Contribution Information
===========================================================
Contribution Type: Event Fee
Total Amount: £ 10.00
Received Date: May 22nd, 2009
Paid By: Cash

And this person marked in red is not from our organisation, is just someone who has registered for the event and the outbound email we have set, which is civicrm@coastnet.org.uk doesn't seem to have sent out any emails.

Thank you ever so much,

Manuela

yes - it's too bad.  we have another event coming up next tuesday if you are interested.  http://civicrm.org/node/591.

I don't have anything to add on this particular problem but if you're interested in being more plugged in with the UK community (which is a pretty good idea - organisations find it pretty useful) there are a few things you can do:

introduce yourself on the UK forum board http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/board,34.0.html
sign up for updates on that board - which is where we post info on events that are happening over here
get in touch by email or phone

hope you are enjoying the summer
