I'm new to CiviCRM so forgive me if this has been asked.

I went through the demo of the CiviEvent application, but didn't see the option to add an additional location to an event. For example, say that someone is hosting one event, but will be in different locations at the same time, is this possible?

Not as a location per se - you could use a custom data field or a price set option to store the chosen location. Alternatively you could set up one event per location.

Using more than one event you can set a participan limit per location and the reporting is probably best for this option. The downside is that you need to cancel and add a new registration if people change between events.

Custom Data fields and price sets (using a zero dollar option) have advantages & disadvantages. Check out the inbuilt custom search for price sets to see the reporting available for that.

For custom data fields you can search through the participants search screen on participant related custom data fields.
