Missing files after installation - Smarty error: unable to read resource
June 25, 2009, 06:06:14 pm
Hi there,

after finally setting up the right database and installing CRM, when I go to the main CRM page on my site I get this error message:

user warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "CRM/Activity/Selector/Activity.tpl" in /home/content/m/u/p/mupra/html/sites/all/modules/civicrm/packages/Smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1094.

Reading back through the installation guide, I notice this section:

Quote
Note that Drupal tries to create the /files/ directory (and make it writeable), but only when saving admin/settings. Same holds for /temp directory, and a /uploads/ directory in the CiviCRM module root. On a brand-new Drupal install, this directory may be missing. Even on an existing installation, if file permissions are not set properly, the directory may be missing. If enabling the civicrm module generates errors regarding the files directory, you must create it (writeable) manually. Refer to Step 2 for instructions on directories to create and permissions to set.

Wha? This is the first time I've seen a direction to "directories to create and permissions to set."

I check, and sure enough those folders haven't been created. So I manually do that, but it still doesn't fix the error message. I look in the folder, and sure enough there's no "Activity.tpl" in the Selector folder. Nor is there one in the installation pack, so it's not like I failed to upload.

I feel like I'm missing a really obvious step here, but I can't seem to find out where. I've had a look through the forum, but no luck.

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Phil

Ah, whoops!

For some reason not all of the (5000+) files were transferred across to my site. It saw reason to leave a few out, Activity.tpl being one of them. The reason I couldn't find it in the zip was because it was in another folder, the 'templates' folder, rather than the 'CRM' folder. I've uploaded the missing files and hopefully now all is resolved.

Cheers,
Phil
