Views 6.x-2.6 and Civicrm not working?

I just installed civicrm and Views 6.x-2.6 - and I'm not seeing any civi fields in Views, I'm not even seeing the sample default view in the views list. Do I need to enable views integration somewhere?

Note: I'm not even seeing the "Views integration settings" section as shown on http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/admin/setting/uf?reset=1 - and yes I did modify the settings.php

That combination works fine here ... in the Drupal modules list, we have enabled CiviCRM, Views, Views Bulk operations an Views UI.  We also have the Drupal variable $db_prefix defined correctly, but failure to define that wouldn't produce the symptom you describe.
