Events for Specific Groups set by Group Admin
June 28, 2009, 07:13:49 pm
I am trying to use CiviCRM for a nonprofit that has local chapters. I would like each chapter to be a group. I would also like to assign a group admin (leader) that could help administrate things for the group (chapter).

Can groups plan events that are only for their group and only show on their group's event listing?

If so, does that listing also so events planned by us for all groups?

We essentially want to give each group their own events list, forums, blog, etc.

Is this possible with CiviCRM?

Thanks!!

WallyJ

Basically no - civicrm is a CRM - what you are asking for can be delivered by a CMS such as Drupal or Joomla! With Drupal you would be looking to Organic Groups - for Joomla! you would be looking for someone who knows joomla! to answer - hth

My understanding was that CiviCRM is combined with Organic Groups, or works with it, at least in the new version...

What if I set up multiple Organizations? Can't I create roles that allow Chapter Presidents to have certain administrative abilities within their organization?

Or is this truly only something that Organic Groups can do apart from CiviCRM?

What do you mean by 'administrative abilities'? Have you read latest post by stoob that i think is referenced here which deals in some ways with 'special people' having access to some data of others?
