Recurring Contribution options - set total amount - remove one-time option
June 29, 2009, 02:42:09 pm
My organization is using a new 5 year donation model that a lot of other non-profits are starting to use.  That is to have a five year donation plan.  The basic idea is to allow for a donation total to be spread out over five years.  This helps a non-profit be able to be plan based on a budget. Currently we are on a stressful one year cycle.  (Make sense?)

So what I have done with Civi so far is to create two different contribution pages on my site.  One that will allow for custom one time contribution.  That I was able to do fine.  The second page, I need to only allow recurring donations.  I don’t want the “one-time” contribution option to be there. When they do this five year commitment, they become one of our “Guaridan Society Members”.  It would also be cool for the admin to enforce a five year time frame instead of giving the user control on number of installments.

So my Questions:
  • Can you remove the “I want to make a one-time contribution” option and only leave the “I want to contribute this amount every ___ year(s) for ___ installments” option?
  • Can it be set so the recurring contribution is spread out over 5 years?
  • Has anyone else run into this model of contributing?

Or if I am going about this wrong and there is a correct way to set this up, a point in the correct direction would be appreciated.  ;D

You might be able to do what you need via a combination of hooks and template customizations. You can modify the form to remove the one-time option and potentially set the default values to 5 years and freeze those elements.

You'll need php expertise to do so. If you have questions contact us on IRC
