CiviCRM for listserv
July 01, 2009, 07:05:48 pm
Can CiviCRM handle listserv type lists, where any one on the list can send a message to a single email and have it go to the entire list?

However I think you can do this with Drupal's Organic Groups module - which can synchronize contacts and groups with CiviCRM (using OG Synch module that is part of CiviCRM distribution).

Or depending on your skill level and needs, you may wish to consider setting up a Yahoo or Google group and be done with it.

Thanks for the guidance.   OG can't do this "out of the box", but there is a mail to OG module that I'm looking at.   I may also set up datamail and synch the users from CivicRM somehow.   Still working on it.  But I really appreciate you all taking the time to respond.

I used to run a few phpBB applications and looked at, but did not run a product - mail 2 forum - http://mail2forum.com/forums/ - this might be of use.

M2F combines the functionality of a mailing list system and a phpBB forum in order to add bi-directional 'email to forum' and 'forum to email'

Wow, I have been using PHPBB for sometime now and asking fellow users if they know of something like that. Now who would have thought I would find the answer here. Thanks DD for the helpful link :)
