Financial Association or Group
July 04, 2009, 01:18:35 am
Hi All,

For a reference I am looking for an association in the financial market using CiviCRM.

Also, another association/club/group using CiviCRM to manage companies as their members (rather than contacts).

Can someone please suggest. A prospect is looking at CiviCRM but wanted to know if there are similar companies using it.

Thanks

I worked on a project for a labor union that used CiviCRM and a custom module that granted access to certain drupal nodes based on the user being employed by an authorized company. It didn't use CiviMember per se, but it is an instance of Companies as 'members' in a sense.

Thanks Matt.

I am looking for someone who had companies as members and their employees automatically getting the membership. Anyone else with similar experience?

Yes - you can do this by using the 'inherited' membership along with the relevant Relationship - eg if you want a Companies employees to all count as members, then set the rule to be 'employer for' at http://crmdemo.grdev.co.nz/civicrm/admin/member/membershipType?reset=1

has to be done to a new membership type I think - it can't be applied retrospectively

Use the Relationship Type field to configure Membership Types where memberships are automatically granted to related contacts. Examples are listed below:
Relationship Type    Direct member is:    Membership is automatically granted to:
'Household Member is'    a household    'Household Members' of that household
'Employer of'    an organization    'Employees' of that organization
'Parent of'    an individual    'Children' of that individual

Thanks Peter. This is useful to know how to do it in advance of getting the deal from the customer :)

I am still looking for a name of an organisation as well so that I can tell my prospect of someone similar. I checked the case studies page as well but nothing in the field of Finance.

Did you check the use cases in the Manual = brian has several associations on his books that I assume use some of this behaviour - http://en.flossmanuals.net/CiviCRM/Examples

Hi Dominic,
Did you manage to get a "company name" within the financial services industry that is using CiviCRM? I have a client (csf.com.au) who uses CiviCRM (which my team manages). It is a fairly complex set-up with datafeeds from external administration companies. It is a superannuation fund (similar to your 401k retirement savings plans). The fund has mutiple employers and some of their employees are members of the fund.

If you need further information please let me know.

Sincerely,
Roland.

Do you mean can you sell a modified version of CiviCRM code?

Or do you mean you have a commercial website you want to use CiviCRM for?

Hi Lobo,
Sorry for the late response. We've been extremely busy as my client are changing service providers for the administration which means the datafeeds are changing. I definitely do want to forward a case study as I believe this is a very good example of a "commercially focused" CiviCRM in the financial services industry. I know there has been others but none of which have been detailed in the forums. So I am hoping if I do one, then others will follow ;)

Give me a couple of months and I will write one up.

Cheers,
Roly.

will try but my client is undergoing a merger and we are drowning a little but I am keen to write up a case study as I believe what we are doing might be of interest to others.

Thanks for your reply Lobo.
