We are using a standalone version of CiviCRM, 2.2.2. I've created a custom profile for a simple email newsletter signup form to be used on a clients website. It works fine, the subscriber is added to a group automatically. However, I cannot find a way to send the subscriber an automatic confirmation email when they join our list. I'm not looking for a double opt-in. I know about the redirect URL, but is their any way to 'trigger' an email response when the profile form is submitted?

What am I missing?

This is not default behavior. You will need to implement a postProcess hook to send the email. You'll need to upgrade to 2.2.7 or later to take advantage of hooks in standalone
