Dummy Payment Processor
August 11, 2007, 06:13:52 am
I would like to know how to use the Dummy Payment Processor.
The yellow ? symbol gives no help, I did a search on the site but did not find a clue.
Is there an "how to"?
Can someone give some information?

The idea behind the "dummy" processor was to allow you to test out online contribution pages and event registration prior to setting up a merchant account. Because in 1.8 you MUST assign some payment processor to each contribution / paid event registration page - you can use the "dummy" temporarily for testing.

Caveat: Haven't tried this out recently... :-)

Note that the Dummy processor is a community contribution and hence maintained by the community. You might want to chat with marshall newrock over IRC and/or help with the documentation / testing

I wanted to check how it works, so i took it for a test drive :) Works quite nicely which is good (since it does not do a lot!)

You create a dummy processor and give it a user name / site url (both of which are ignored). It basically returns enough information for the process to goto the next step. It does no validation on any credit card fields etc. It also works only in test mode

It's beautiful, a feature that ignores all settings .. 8)

But your anwers give me enough information to understand the goal of de dummy processor.

I also did a fast testdrive in config contributions with dummy as default processor. It give me this error:
Fatal error: Unsupported operand types in /home/cmseasyn/public_html/drupal5/sites/all/modules/civicrm/CRM/Core/Payment/Form.php on line 115
In life site I get the same error, that should be normal because I did not fill in the settings for a life site.

Please, don't take to much time for solving this (for me), your information gives me the idea that I will not use the dummy. PayPal gives a test site for this.

Please reproduce this on demo and file an issue. We'll get it fixed :). I looked at the code and could not figure out why you are getting that error
