Shopping cart for paying for memberships
July 08, 2009, 04:21:30 am
hi!

is it possible to do shopping cart for paying membership fees with CiviContribute?

i am working on a project where users would need to be able to join Organic Groups (a Drupal module) through paying for membership, and they would like to join a lot of OGs at once, and pay together for the aggregated costs (each join would cost 1 BGP).

the alternative way would be to use the Ubercart module from Drupal, which is a webshop module, and write a hook that creates the necessary membership on purchase.

i wonder which is the best way to go about this, please advice!

i would use a hook for your use case

if you do, please publish your hook so other folks can reuse it if needed

yes i plan to publish results if i will have them.  but is there a specific way to "publish" a hook? (sorry this is offtopic question)

so basically you suggest that i use Ubercart and have membership as a product?

Once you implement the module, u can add it here: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Third+Party+Modules

I dont know enough about ubercart to make that recommendation. But if that fits your model, then using an api/hook is a good idea to integrate with civicrm
