CiviCRM Member account vs Drupal Accounts

Hello,

I'm still trying to figure it all out, Drupal and CiviCRM...

Question: 
Is there any link to civi members and Drupal accounts?  Seems to me that there would be. It doesn't really matter to me at this point but down the road when I what to set up a CiviEvent and the user logs in to re 

If I use other features in Drupal say a Forum then will the use have a separate account?

Is there any disadvantage from the Drupal side to using civiCRM instead of mashing together Drupal's modules to do something simular?

CiviCRM seems to be a bit on the outside of Drupal...
