Installing CiviCRM in a subdirectory
July 10, 2009, 05:05:07 pm
Hello,

I am trying to install CiviCRM onto my joomla website.  The website isn't in the main directory of my server it is in:  /home4/MAIN_URL/public_html/JOOMLA_SITE/tmp/

Is this possible? or is there a work around I could try?

It keeps creating an error.

I'm confused about what you are installing where.

The terms you use seem to indicate the Joomla! root directory is /home4/MAIN_URL/public_html/JOOMLA_SITE/ and that you are trying to install CiviCRM into /home4/MAIN_URL/public_html/JOOMLA_SITE/tmp/ ... but that doesn't make sense to me as Joomla! will install CiviCRM into /home4/MAIN_URL/public_html/JOOMLA_SITE/components/com_civicrm/ and /home4/MAIN_URL/public_html/JOOMLA_SITE/administrator/components/com_civicrm/.

Or is it that you have a main site installed at /home4/MAIN_URL/public_html/JOOMLA_SITE/ and a temporary site installed at /home4/MAIN_URL/public_html/JOOMLA_SITE/tmp/?

Also, please share the error you are getting. Have you Googled that error on either the Joomla! or CiviCRM forums? What does your research indicate?

Yes, it's possible. Civi doesn't care where Joomla is installed.

Thank you both for the help.  I got the install to work.  I had an error in my Joomla script.
