CiviCRM to Support a Landowners Association

Does anyone know of anyone using CiviCRM under Drupal to support a Landowners Association? I need to track the county and parcel number(s) for members of a Landowners Association. The Organization contact type would need those fields added, but otherwise comes pretty close to being useful since a landowner can be any legal entity including a person, a trust, or an organization.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello WallyW,

While I don't know of anyone using CiviCRM for this purpose, I don't see why it wouldn't work.
You can set up any number of contact types, so you'll be able to include all kinds of "landowning" entities.
Adding fields isn't difficult. If it was me, I would consider setting up a profile that could be used to store all of this information. You could then set it as your default Search Profile, making it easier to find what you need.

Hope this helps,
Jason

Agree with Jason. It should not be to hard, you would have to set up the county and parcel numbers as custom fields beloning to a contact subtype. I would recommend you do a little reading, install a local sandbox and play a little with the configuration you require. Alternative obviously is to hire a consultant to help you. I'm using CiviCRM with my neighborhood property owners association much like you're describing.  Since we are tracking the history of the property, I set the the property address as the household and associated the owners and renters accordingly.  I added a lot number and plat for tracking, you can see an example here:

http://stjameswood.com/index.php/check-dues

You can enter 6906 to see a single listing (while no one has complained, I think I should either limit the number of addresses that are returned or require a few characters on the initial query field, otherwise you get the entire list).

Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Keith
