How come custom fields do not show up?

Basically custom fields that were gathered through membership signups (via profiles) - are not showing up when i view that person's details. Nor, can i search them? Am i doing something wrong here? I'm using the standalone version of civicrm.

I kind of feel a bit more information would be useful to help you

What sort of fields are you using? Membership, contact, individual? Is your profile set up to be inline or as a separate tab. Where are you looking for (and not finding) the data?

Some screen shots also so we don't miss obvious issues like 'you aren't seeing any tabs at all' ;-) - and of course doing a comparison with eg what the demo shows also helps.

I've got it to work you guys, thanks a lot! Eileen, I wasn't using "individual form fields", instead i was using membership types - so i couldn't them as tabs.
