Domain aliases that mail to smart groups?

I'm at the evaluation stage, not running CiviCRM yet. I'm looking to implement it for my Quaker meeting. Is it possible to set CiviMail (or other CiviCRM component) up so that e-mails sent to specific addresses get sent out to all members of a given group?

We are currently using Google Apps for e-mail, and have group aliases set up in GApps mail to send mail to all members of a committee, eg, peacecommittee@myquakermeeting.org goes to all members of that committee, and accepts mail from outside as well as from "the office", as well as individual aliases for all clerks (aka chairpeople) of those committees. When an active member gets a new e-mail address, you have to go look up what committee's she's on, and then change the e-mail address in each list. It's be great to have all the committee aliases updated when the member's e-mail address is changed in the database.

If there's not native functionality, could it be built with the API, and say, procmail as the MTA?

Can you update your profile se we know what CMS you are/might use

I don't think what you are wanting will be available via civicrm in near/medium future.

if Drupal then I think you can do what you describe (in theory) through various routes eg OG and Mailman (and use OG synch with CiviCRM so Groups have the same members)
