Including sender in recipients
July 19, 2009, 03:53:16 pm
Hi - on 2.2.7 I have just realised that when I include myself in a Group and then send to that Group
a/ I am not being counted in the number of recipients
b/ I am not being sent the final mailing.

I don't think this occured before but haven't tested.

I usually recommend that 'senders' include themselves in the Group as a way of verifying that the mail actually gets sent.

Is the 'sender' being excluded now? Is this intentional?

Peter / Emily - I just did a sequence of tests on my 2.2.7 local install and I'm not seeing this behavior. I tested both with my own (logged in) contact's email address as the FROM Address for the mailing, and also with a different FROM Address. The recipient count display was correct and the expected emails went out to my address and the others in the group.

I am using the config setting which dumps emails out to a files in the upload/mail directory (not actually sending mails) - but I don't think this should matter.

One approach to verifying / debugging is if you can view your civicrm_mailing_event_queue table before and after sending. There should be one new record added for each recipient after you trigger the send (I'm using the civicrm/mailing/queue?reset=1 URL to trigger it) - including one with your contact_id in it.

Otherwise, maybe you can give more exact steps to replicate. I'm using a static group with 4 members, one of which is my contact record, and one has Do Not Email flag set. Hence 3 emails are sent out.
