CiviCRM vs aMember
August 13, 2007, 06:34:59 pm
Hi,

I'm looking to create a video training site for a arts and crafts organization that is looking to distribute online video training with monthly and yearly subscription options (eg. www.lynda.com).

Could someone let me know if CiviCRM supports any of the these features that aMember (www.amember.com) supports?

# Integrated with multiple payment systems. Able to support multiple payment systems simultaneously.
# Password sharing prevention built-in
# Built-in affiliate program with recurring commissions support
# Special cookie login interface where members can login, review payments, renew subscription.
# Automated signups and mail to new and expired users
# Can be used to setup free areas on site, requiring only registration, not payment (possible after admin approval)

Thanks in advance,
Anoush

You might want to read a bit of the documentation and play around with the various features on the demo site to get more specific answers

Briefly:

1. yes
2. this is a function of the CMS
3. no
4. CMS function and some CiviCRM. You will need custom code for this
5. CMS functionality
6. CMS functionality

Thanks for the quick comparison Lobo.

Could you also let me know if CiviCRM has automatic recurring payment system built in? From what I understand the e-commerce component of Drupal does not have this feature.

Thanks!

Thanks for the help guys.

One last question - could you let me know if CiviCRM supports automatic payment processing?

I am setting up a subscription based site.

Thanks!

There is support for recurring payments as noted above. You'll need to get more specific regarding what you mean by "automatic payment processing".
