I have a problem with the export-tool.

When I export the contacts with firefox 3.0 or IE7 to excel 2007 there seems no problem. The same counts for firefox to OpenOffice 3. But when I try to export with IE6 to MS Excel 2000 its not working. Every contact is in one field and it seems there the first field is missing the "s. So the csv is not recognized by Excel. I don't know if this is a problem of IE6 or MS Excel 2000. Does anybody know a answer or solution for this problem  ?

The Contact ID is not surrounded bij " so excel2000 doesn't recognize it as csv file.

The missing link in your analysis is Firefox to Excel 2000 - are you not able to test this combo & rule out IE or Excel 2000? Are they both off the same server.

I have a feeling that the problem is to do with characters that you would only see using a hex editor that tell the application how to interpret the file

The machine (windows XP) i tested has IE6 and Excel2000, another machine (MS Vista) has the IE7 and Firefox with Excel2007 and another had Ubuntu 9.04, firefox and  OpenOffice 3.
civicrm is on a server for both the same. I cannot test the combination firefox and Excel2000 maby i have to setup a VM to test it.
