Dealing with the death of an individual
July 24, 2009, 10:46:02 am
Currently the tasks that a staff member must do when someone dies is rather tedious.

They must:
1) Mark the contact as deceased and fill in the date of death
2) Terminate any active memberships for that person
3) Remove the "household member of" relationship, plus any other relationships that no longer make sense. ( some relationships will stay, such as the "owns plot at a cemetery" )
4) If the person had signed up for any upcoming events, cancel their event registrations.
5) Remove them from any groups that no longer make sense. ( Some may stay, such as being a founding member )
6) Cancel any upcoming pledge obligations.
7) Remove them from any upcoming activities.

It would be nice if the staff only had to do step 1, and CiviCRM took care of the rest.

Thanks,
Sarah
