Before we install civiCRM....(help)
July 27, 2009, 09:01:19 am
Hi all,

Previously we manage our sales via spreadsheet.

I've looked Sugar CRM for one month, unfortunately my director is not satisfied with the features that Sugar provides.

Our situation is like this: we are small practice selling software to architects, contractors and engineers. We have one tele sales guy to make cold calling & book demonstration with potential customers, and two guys doing software demonstration after the meeting being booked. Each of them has own calling spreadsheet for architects, contractor and engineers sector.

We hope the system could help us as a master spreadsheet that contains everyone's spreadsheets in different sectors.

Does the system could help us
1. filter the data by sales people ( opportunity assigned to), close date, probability, sector AT THE SAME TIME? The Sugar CRM could not sort the mass opportunities with these multi criteria, we hope the Civi CRM could do this just like the Excel does (select all, filter by different tiers)
2. view the sales notes easily. Ideally the notes should be stick against the related opportunity, when we start to make cold call we can simply click the mouse once, then we can view and edit it.

Thank you very much

Eileen

I don't think CiviCRM is a good fit. The target market of CiviCRM is non-profits and while businesses do use it it doesn't fit that model as easily.

Specifically the concept of salespeople is fairly foreign to CiviCRM

If you want to have a go at setting something up on the demo site I would recommend you thoroughly check out Activities as by defining custom fields etc for this you may be able to get much of what you are seeking (not that I would ever disagree with a goddess)
