Tracking contributions by fund, purpose, campaign, solicitation

Hello all,

I'm currently using Sage FR50 to track contributions, and I'm trying to figure out if I could switch to CiviContribute.  The CiviReport module makes this much more attractive, but I'm not sure if I can configure CiviContribute to meet my needs.

In Sage, I track the source of each contribution (where it comes from) by campaign and solicitation (a campaign has many solicitations).  For example, we track "09 Annual Appeals" as a campaign, and if we send six different letters, each would have a different solicitation.

The designation of each gift (what it is for) is recorded by fund and purpose (a fund has many purposes).  So for example, we could have a gift into the endowment fund, with a purpose of supporting our crisis hotline.

Is there a way to replicate this setup in CiviContribute?  I'm interested in knowing how are other people capturing this type of information.  Do you end up with a thousand different contribution pages?

Thanks,
Dan

Oh, that's awesome!  Somehow, until right now, I didn't understand that you can add custom profiles and custom fields to things other than contacts.  I'm amazed.  This solves all kinds of problems!

Thanks for your help, Lobo!
