Insall message doesn't read right for what I need
July 31, 2009, 11:23:36 am
Message I'm getting:

Please untar (uncompress) your downloaded copy of CiviCRM in the sites\all\modules directory below your Drupal root directory. Refer to the online http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Installation+and+Upgrades for more information.

If you want to setup / install a Standalone CiviCRM version (i.e. not a Drupal or Joomla module), click here

Trying to setup install on WAMP localserver

localhost/www/fragit/sites/all/modules/civicrm/install/index.php - returns the above message.

I already have the drupal site up and working.   I read the docs, and they talk like the drupal intallation is set up with drupal as directory and MySql with Drupal generic Mysql.  I have db and user names different from discussed.  I do not like to have drupal displayed prominently on sites to discourage hackers.

Anyway, running Vista 64bit OS.  Guess I need help on this, because I want to set up merged with drupal, but I do want separate dbase for Drupal and Civicrm.  This should make it easier for backups and site maintenance.

Anyway, I could use some help on this.

-------------------------------------------------------

I got to wondering if maybe I could build separate Civicrm mysql database first.

Then is there away to get the Civicrm to more or less install manually.

I have read and re-read the installation docs.

I did not name th1e folder Drupal where I installed drupal package

MySql and drupal 6.13 is set up and working fine from folder ->fragit

I get the error message in starter posting every time I go through the /install/index.php routine.

My installation is on a localhost, and I do have several Mysql databases already setup and working with other sites within the WWW=core folder of WAMP.

It looks to me like this could be a problem anyone could have, so there should be information on a it available.

Is there a diagnostic of something I can run to check out my installed application, php, mysql, apache, etc.

I've installed drupal so many times I can do it in my sleep; wherein I created MySQL and then update/install drupal.

I do not want standalone install of Civicrm.  I want it to work with drupal.

I could use a link or domain pointer at least to something that relates. I've tried google with the error message and couldn't find a fix.

Still poking at this thing.  There is probably more of an issue than I realized.

The WAMP is installed on my Vista 64bit OS, in lieu of the designated Linux OS.

Therefore, I think I'll follow the directions for an install exactly like it calls for with DRUPAL folder and MySQL dbase name Drupal.

This is bad practice for security reasons, which I won't go into.  If this is the only way this will work it kinda defeats the purpose.

Afterall, when you ask people for alot of personal information on this type of site... I don't see how you can assure them it is safe.

I don't think this has anything to do w/ the folder name you choose for your Drupal root directory. Pretty sure it has to do w/ path notation differences between *nix and Windoze. There are quite a few forum posts detailing how to make things work on a windows server so I would check for solutions that way.
