Creating a family membership signup page
August 05, 2009, 09:04:31 am
I am attempting to create a membership signup/renewal page that allows 3 choices of membership types:

Student ( covers just the one person)
Couple ( covers one person + spouse)
Family ( covers one person + spouse  + children, ie everyone in the household)

I have created household contacts, and individual contacts for household members, and set up the "is household member of" relationships.

I have created 3 membership types with different prices. The "couple" type membership is configured to use the "spouse" relationship.  But how should I create the "family" membership type  and the signup-page?    How will a person sign up for a "family" membership on the front-end of the website so that it covers all household members?

Thanks,
Sarah

Complete newbie to CiviCRM here . I just started testing Civi for a non profit that I volunteer for. We have almost the exact same requirement as this post and I was wondering of someone could point me the right way.

I went through a lot of the documentation and there does not seem to be a tutorial on this that I could find ...

Realize that OP asked the question in 09 - so apologies if this is old hat to everyone now !

Thanks much !

There is not yet a built-in solution to this issue.  I blogged about this at: http://civicrm.org/blogs/sarahgladstone/lets-put-r-back-crm

and also started a wiki document to gather requirements at: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRM/Relationship+improvements+for+the+self-service+areas

As soon as I can locate some seed sponsors, this project can be launched as a "Civi-Make-it-Happen" project to raise the rest of the funds.  Would you be interested in helping out?
