Right Click
August 06, 2009, 08:52:50 pm
I love right click!  now I want it everywhere - on report, dashboard pages, find and merge, etc. Would also be great to have right click on reports.

Also, its not clear that contacts are right click enabled.  we need a way to show it in the UI.  perhaps a > next to the text or a change of the text when you hover over it.

Now I want right click on events, contributions, and my wife ....:)

Hmm - can't help with the "personal stuff" :-) But.... nice suggestion for hover. I added this text as a title attribute for the rows - and it displays when you hover anywhere on the row:

"Click contact name to view a summary. Right-click anywhere in the row for an actions menu."

I've learned I'm not the typical user, so if most people like the new right-click menu then great, but one thing I use really, really, really, really, really often is Right-Click -> Open in New Window. I'm thinking code-wise this wouldn't be hard to add to the right-click menu. But if nobody uses it then I understand the benefit of keeping the menu smaller.

Alternatively, there are places, e.g. search results, where the far right column has actions that are already specific, like View, so it doesn't really make sense to override the right-click menu to provide options that have nothing to do with View. Let me right-click on View and choose Open in New Window.

P.S. Most people seem to prefer tabs, so tab instead of new window is ok too.
